Night

Night is the theme for day 29 of #oct_playalong so I grabbed a big piece of cardboard, punched a load of holes in it and then pushed a fairy light into each hole to make the twinkly stars in our night sky. My little one liked crawling into her tunnel and we all enjoyed staring at the pretty lights.

Ten Little Dinosaurs

My toddler loves dinosaurs (her Daddy brainwashed her early!) and recently she has taken an interest in counting so this is the perfect book for her. There are opportunities to count the dinosaurs, sticks, wood rounds and stones as well as to match the number cards to the numbers in the book and of course to do a lot of ‘roaring’ as the dinosaurs chase each other around the tufftray.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

I hid the food items under sand and gave my toddler a variety of brushes to sweep the sand away and reveal the pictures. She then looked for the corresponding picture in the book (she loves matching things) and posted it into the caterpillars mouth (complete with sound effects). When she had had enough of playing with the sand we ordered the food pictures while reading the book.

Moon

It’s day 23 of #oct_playalong and the theme is the moon. We decided to create the surface of the moon with sand, we then imprinted circles into it and added silver glitter for sparkles. I wrapped some of our happyland figures up in emergency blanket foil to make little astronauts and added some rockets we had previously made. Little one especially enjoyed writing in the glittery sand and scooping it around.
